The name of the company derives from the novel written by Georgian classic writer Shio Aragvispireli. The idea of creating the company emerged when several friends, who enjoyed wine, found out that generally larger portion of the finest Georgian family wines remained unknown on the market and were mostly consumed by the owners. At the beginning of its operations The Wine Thieves Company decided to be involved in wine-drinking culture development process locally. From 2018 Company also started producing its own wine and focused on western markets. After the long selection process, The Wine Thieves unite the highest quality wines (and grapes from 2018) from various regions of Georgia. Each sort of wine is being selected by professional experts and laboratory testing. Simultaneously the philosophy of the company is to promote the advantage of Qvevri Wine (large, egg-shaped amphorae without handles, buried in the ground) which represent the great potential of Georgian Ancient wine making technology worldwide.
