My name is Emiliano Gómez Ventura, but everyone calls me Emi. I was born in Buenos Aires and raised in Barcelona, where I’ve lived most of my life. For years I worked in communication, design, and advertising… until one day, the land and the wine called me. And I decided to listen. I spent three years in Alella, recovering old vineyards and discovering the power of natural wines with Oriol Artigas. That time opened a path I’ve never left, and in 2020 I launched my own project: Lavinaventura Vins. Between Torrelles de Foix and Sant Martí Sarroca, in Penedès, I tend plots of Chenin Blanc, Muscat of Alexandria, Parellada, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon, surrounded by Mediterranean forest and located between 300 and 500 meters above sea level, on clay-limestone soils. The vines are between 18 and 50 years old. I farm them using organic and biodynamic principles, aiming for biodiversity, living soils, and minimal use of sulfur and copper. I work with cover crops, introduced progressively to help the vines adapt without stress. I observe their cycle closely and try to support it with care. Since 2021, I’ve vinified four vintages — each with its own character, but all with the same spirit: to understand the territory and bottle it with respect. I didn’t grow up in a farming family, but I feel like a farmer. I deeply respect those who work the land. The effort, the sacrifice, and the connection with nature seem to me among the noblest ways of life. Doing it with care is what keeps me going. They say wine is made in the vineyard. And I believe that too. That’s why I work slowly, without masking anything. My wines are complex, not complicated, and they speak of where they come from. I’m not one for labels, though since 2021, the vineyards are organically certified. I also believe in the value of small producers working outside official appellations. That’s why I’m part of the Gremi de Vinyataires Lliures, a space to rethink the wine world with more freedom and respect. In the cellar, I work with native yeasts, no additives, no sulfites. I want to understand the territory and bottle it with respect. And above all, I want people to enjoy. Because wine is about that: sharing, celebrating, living. You can find my wines in Catalonia, Madrid, France, Denmark — and little by little, in other corners of the world where people want to listen to what the vineyard has to say.
