La Montañuela

Camila Carrillo

Grower, Maker

something

La Montañuela is an ode to my Colombian roots, my childhood, and my family. I am a first-generation American making natural wine with hybrids grapes in the state of Vermont. I've been working in the wine industry for 12 years and began my own winemaking journey in 2018 while working with Deirdre Heekin & Caleb Barber of La Garagista. Through the harvest experiences I had abroad and working with Deirdre and Caleb for the past 5 years, I've had so many amazing and valuable learning opportunities that I've been able to apply to my own winemaking and farming projects. Between managing a small but mighty, 1/4 of an acre vineyard of Marquette, and planting my own vines and fruit trees on my land, my goal is to grow to a manageable size, while adapting and working with our changing climate. By farming responsibly and making wine mindfully, I hope I can do my part to take care of my slice of earth and inspire others to do the same.
