Kolagis Marani: A Legacy of Handcrafted Excellence

Welcome to Kolagis, one of the oldest natural winemaking maranis in Georgia, with a rich heritage in organic viticulture and natural winemaking. Founded by Nika Jeiranashvili in 1887, the Jeiranashvili family has been devoted to crafting natural wines using traditional methods in their century-old Qvevris (traditional clay vessels).

Our Unique Terroir

Nestled in the village of Kolagi, the vineyards thrive 500 meters above sea level within the Gurjaani micro-zone of Georgia’s renowned Kakheti region. This unique terroir imparts distinct flavors to the grapes, resulting in exceptional wines.

Handcrafted with Passion

At Kolagis, the focus is on quality rather than quantity. Every bottle is 100% handmade, reflecting a meticulous, hands-on approach. The winery produces a very limited amount of wine each year, ensuring that each bottle is a true labor of love.

Family-Owned and Operated

The vineyards, less than 2 hectares in size, are tended exclusively by family members. Kolagis never buys grapes from others, ensuring that the wines are made only from grapes nurtured by the family.

A Legacy Continued

Today, Kolagis is operated by Nika Jeiranashvili, the great-great-grandson of the founder. Nika, who shares his ancestor’s name, left a successful career as an international lawyer specializing in human rights to follow his passion for natural winemaking.

Natural Winemaking

Kolagis is committed to minimal intervention in the winemaking process. The wines are made by hand, with no oenological additives or processing aids, and contain no added sulfites. What you taste is the pure, unfiltered essence of the grape.

Culinary Experience

The winemaker’s wife, Nina, is a high-level professional chef who creates exquisite meals from local ingredients, often sourced from the winery’s own organic farms. Visitors are encouraged to arrange lunch or dinner in advance, as she works in Tbilisi.

Certified Excellence

As proud members of the Natural Wine Association, Kolagis upholds rigorous standards in both their vineyards and marani. The wines are certified by the Association, signifying a commitment to excellence.

Join Kolagis on a journey through time and terroir as you savor each sip of their wine — a testament to their century-old legacy and unwavering dedication to quality.
