Grower, Maker

something

When I am asked what my wines are like and how they should taste, I always have the following running through my head: Katharina Gessl wines should reflect the relief of seeing familiar faces at an event, the joy of solving a brain-teasing puzzle and learning something new. In Austria that would be the euphoria of a traditional gstanzl sung by a local choir in a heurige tavern after the third glass of wine at sunset…the “mhhhhm” at the first bite of bread and butter…a midnight dance alone at home… the tingling sensation of a message from your beloved…the feeling of happiness when the first refreshing sip of wine dances across your tongue. They are light on their feet but always strong in character, so that you want to spend an entire evening with them, enthralled and then want to meet up with them again! Somehow like that. That's how my wines should be, that's how they turned out for me – I hope for you too.
