Kamiuta Vineyard is a small vineyard located in Utashinai, Hokkaido, one of the least populated cities in Japan.

The vineyard began in 2016 as an experimental wine-grape project initiated by the City of Utashinai. In 2021, we took it over as a private project. Today, in this northern climate of long winters and short summers, we grow 13 grape varieties, including Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Meunier, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer.

Our main focus is sparkling wine, through which we seek to express the unique character of each vintage. We also produce rosé wines from black grapes.

In the vineyard, we follow organic principles as much as possible, but we are not dogmatic. We treat the vines as living beings, and when intervention is necessary, we choose the method we believe will best protect the life of the vineyard.

Our aim is to make wines that reflect the essence of Kamiuta: vivid acidity, transparency, delicacy and resilience.
