Genúria Natural Wines

Grower, Maker

something

Genúria is the fusion of three words, Genética (Genetics), fúria (fury) and Penúria (which is the name of our first plot of vineyard and also the name of the street where we live). Genúria was born during COVID. The vineyard has been in the family since I was born but we've always sold the grapes to the big wineries, but due to covid, we had to spend much more time at home, which means more time in the land, and the "click" came. So, instead of selling grapes, why wouldn't we try to make wine ourselves? I said to my dad, "I'm gonna make wine next year", and I did. In 2021, we converted every single square meter of land to organic and in 2022 we decided to make our first wine ever. Once it was our first time making wine, we decided to go easy, and only made around 2000 bottles, two claretes, one Pet Nat and a Rose, which sold out very quickly as soon as they hitted the market. The Grape we had at this plot was only Marselan, and that's the only one we've used that year. Nowadays we already got two more small plots of old vineyards that we've rented and also have to buy some organic grapes so we can meet the market needs and expectations. At the winery we only use very low amounts of sulfur and no rotten grapes come into our wines. On the 2023 harvest we tripled our production and have made orange wine, red, rose, Pet Nat and Palhete. For the 2024 harvest, if everything goes well, we expect to produce around 10000 bottles. Basically this is it, but of course there is much more to tell
