Cantina Martinelli produces grapes mainly from it’s cru of Garganega in Fittà, In the northernmost and high altitude area of the Soave Classic Area at 300 meters. We row against the current in an area that in has always (the last 50 years) used vines in favor of quantity. We had the luck and the stubbornness to work with a special terroir for kind of soils, exposition and uncontamination. We protect our wild and free vineyard with jealousy and love. The group of three vineyards, together with a large wood, is exposed east at 300 meters above sea level on volcanic basaltic soil and therefore strongly mineral. The age of the vines is around 60 years, first implant 1950 until 1982. Never irrigated thanks to the 1,5 hectare of wood that stands in the middle of the vineyards, providing water and biodiversity. Since 2015 the vines are conducted with organic and biodynamic farming practices that does not involve the use of any pesticides, synthetic fertilization products that avoid the excessive exploitation of the vines, and allow them to evolve as they can. The Grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with spontaneous fermentation regimes, with their own indigenous yeasts, without clarification or filtration and with the addition of just the minimum sulfur in bottling. The intent is to make a fresh and drinkable natural wine that expresses the most its grape and its terroir. We hope that this story of passion and love for our culture, our land and our people help you to discover the emotion of being able to drink a grape juice made with hands and heart and inspire you to rediscover and perpetuate your knowledge and your culture. Love and Greetings to all of you. from the whole Martinelli family. Quotes: “The amount of venom that can be delivered from a single bite can be gargantuan. You know, I’ve always liked that word…”gargantuan”… so rarely have an opportunity to use it in a sentence.” Elle Driver / California Mountain Snake – Kill Bill Vol.2 – Quentin Tarantino “He accepted the fragility of everyone else, but as for himself he demanded perfection, an almost superhuman rigor even in the smallest gestures. ” Paul Auster – Leviatan “I will weave your hair like a song I know the laws of the world, and I will give you gifts I will overcome the gravitational currents, Space and light so you don’t get old I will save you from any melancholy, Because you are a special being and I will take care of you I will take care of you ” Franco Battiato – La Cura The Family Story : The processes that lead to the birth of a Winery are often long generational journeys. Francesco Martinelli was born in 1874, the third son of four brothers, to parents land owners in Colognola ai colli, Verona. Upon his death, Gaetano (1842 – 1901) left the inheritances to divide the family: Francesco inherited the properties “in the city” (Piazza Arditi and Via Daniele Manin in Verona), the lands instead and the family villa, go in favor of the younger brother Pio. In 1941 the son of Francesco, Giovanni (1921), an aviator, returned safely from the Russian campaign. After the war he tries to regain relations with his uncle Pio’s family, but he already has squandered the grandfather’s belongings and so Giovanni is forced to give up the idea of returning to the home land. Dario (1953), Giovanni’s first son, inherits the passion for men, adventures and the land. After completing his studies in Biological Sciences at the University of Padua, he chose the path of the spirit that brought him closer to Yoga. To crown this research path Dario in 1995 has the opportunity to buy a fund. Among the many he visits in that period there is one that is vied on hills of Soave with a rustic outbuilding that seems the right place to practice his disciplines. Listening to his ancient call and guided by fate ends up buying just that vineyard field in Garganega, the rustic and a grove, on a slope facing east of the hill volcanic area of Fittà, in the Classic area of Soave. A magical place where you can get back in touch with nature and rebalance yourself through it with yoga, contemplation, sharing, peace. Francesco Martinelli (1978), Dario’s eldest son, inherits the passion for nature, art, poetry, the music, and all the illuminated paths of men. He travels, he loves being with people and learn the art of catering as a convivial moment of human exchange and with it he learns the culture of good food and good wine. Taking care of others around the table. In 2001 he returned to Italy because he felt the call of his culture, thirsty for knowledge and experiences. In 2015 his daughter Lola Teodora was born. He understands that this opportunity cannot be wasted and it is the time to resume that work of love for the earth and for the man who remained buried for two generations: the noble and ancient work of Making Wine. Thus was born in conjunction with the encounter with Antonio, a young passionate agronomist, the possibility of riding this dream hidden in our blood for generations. A little big dream far away grown up to become … The Giant … G
