Blandine Prévot and Jérémy Borde grew up amidst the vines and then took over the family property from Jérémy’s grandparents in 2015. As believers in sustainable agriculture Blandine and Jérémy decided, from 2018, to steer Chateau Peylaby in the direction of organic agriculture. They learned winegrowing at school and did several internships in different wineries, and they had the same dream: making their own wine. Working in conjunction with nature enables them to reveal the true expression of Médoc ‘terroirs’. That is evident in their vintage where they have created a wine in their own image. Chateau Peylaby is located on the commune of Saint Germain d’Esteuil in the Médoc AOC. The parcels of vines are planted in three communes: Saint Germain d’Esteuil, Ordonnac and Saint-Yzans-de-Médoc. The soil here comprises calcareous-clay, gravels and sandy silts. Grass is allowed to emerge naturally alongside the vines and the soil is enriched with other sowings and local manure as well as compost. For example, seeds of wild broad beans between the rows create a soil which is covered in Spring, which in turn feeds beneficial nutrients to the vines during the rest of the season. During the growing season biodynamic practices are used to improve the vines resistance to pests. Chateau Peylaby is a pioneer of sustainable practices in the Médoc AOC
