Love and passion for the land and its vineyards are the values that, handed down from father to son, characterize the Saccomani estate since its origin. We do not have documentation that certifies the precise date of birth of the farm, however there is an acknowledgment obtained by Giuseppe Saccomani, dating back to the early 1940s, which rewarded his table grapes. It is from the mid-eighties that with Giuseppe, the company changed its perspective, allocating the entire production to wine grapes and its sale, first as bulk wine and subsequently in the bottle. Now the winery is managed by the 4th generation, Luca and Claudia who joined the company once they finished their studies (both studied in the agro-food field) The style of winemaking starts from a careful management of the vineyard, the grapes must arrive healthy in the cellar, The concept that then prevails in the cellar is "nothing is given and nothing is taken", no addition, only so2 in maximum doses of 40-50 mg / l . No clarification, only a slight pre-bottled filtration. The choice to make natural wine was spontaneous, the footpath was tracing by Giuseppe who in the early 2000s completely eliminated the chemistry in the vineyard. In the cellar, chemistry never entered! Luca and Claudia did nothing but raise the bar, requesting BIO certification in 2018, experimenting with soil management techniques ranging from biodynamic to permaculture . The aspiration is to have a company that is both self-sufficient and sustainable, in a word "resilient". The estate extension at the moment is 12 hectares, located on various parcels all in the Diolo area, within the municipality of Lugagnano val d'arda. A part of the land is made up of red clay, typical of the Piacenza hills, perfect for obtaining structured red wines. The other part , is located inside the Parco del Pacenziano, an area recognized nationally for its geological value, this is an area with sandy sediments dating back to the Pliocene age. The grapes grown are: malvasia, ortrugo, marsanne and verdea as regards white wines. As for red wines, the grapes grown are: bonarda (or croatina) barbera and merlot. Historically, the company has always produced sparkling wines obtained by natural refermentation in the bottle(PET-NAT) without regard for trends and the market which instead moved towards the production of sparkling wines obtained with the Charmat method. Certainly a simpler method both for its processing and for sale but which left less space for the expressiveness of the grapes and the terruar Currently the production is 35,000 bottles. Wines that reflect the tradition of the Piacenza area , which means sparkling wines GUTTURNIO , ORTRUGO and MONTEROSSO, two still wines ,the white RIO LUPO and the red ROSSO DEI BARONI, both obtained from the selection of the best grapes and the NEBULA a passito wine produced in very small quantities (330 bottles).
