Additional Information

Natural and vegan wine:

Favorite wine of Wine Plus: WEIN-PLUS: “Favorite wine. EXCELLENT: Clear, firm, polished bouquet of more black than red berries with cherry notes, as well as floral and herbaceous nuances and a little paprika. Clean, juicy, re-cut fruit, very fine tannin, nutty aromas and a hint of dark chocolate, persistent on the palate, some depth, a little herbs and pepper in the background, has some power, but remains cool, elegant style, very good, tight, extremely juicy finish.“

Vinification: Harvest of the Merlot-grapes on october 9th and of the bought organic Cabernet-Sauvignon-grapes on october 17th. Maceration period of one month in open wooden casks, seperately. Spontaneous fermentation. We did the punch downs by hand in beginning and later we pumped over (remontage). The malolactic fermentation also occurred spontaneously in open casks.  Both wines matured separately for 16 months in used Hungarian and French barriques. After blending, the cuvée was bottled unfiltered and unfined with a low dose of sulphur.   Produced and bottled :  WASSMANN PINCE BT. Susann Hanauer and Ralf Waßmann, Fő utca 42, 7766 Pécsdevecser, Hungary.   Analytics: Alcohol: 13,65 % V/V.  Sugar: 1.1 g/l.  Acidity: 5.8 g/l.  Total sulphur: 30 mg/l.
something
Our south-facing vineyards lie within the boundaries of Siklós in the Villány wine-region, the southernmost Hungarian wine-growing area and the most significant one to produce red wine in the country. The cellar is situated in Pécsdevecser, a small village about 15 km north of Villány itself. We founded our wine-estate in 2002 and have been running it together since then. (We = Ralf Waßmann, who studied beverage sciences in Geisenheim (Germany) and Susann Hanauer, who was a lawyer). Our vineyards cover two hectares, planted with Olaszriszling (Welschriesling in German) and Chardonnay for white wine and Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Kékfrankos (Lemberger or Blaufränkisch in German), Portugieser and Merlot for red. All our wines have Hungarian certification that guarantees origin and quality: ‘Districtus Hungaricus Controllatus Villány’ (DHC Villány). In 2003 our business became the first one in Villány to be recognised as organic wine growers, according to the EU guidelines for ecological agriculture. We have had DEMETER certification since 2011.
