something
Perched at an altitude of 500 meters, Tenuta la Novella is located in the heart of Tuscany, between Florence and Siena, in the Chianti Classico appellation. This vast 188-hectare estate, abandoned for years, regained its lost splendor in 1996 when François Schneider, fascinated by the place’s beauty, decided to restore this magnificent residence Since 2015 Simone Zemella, winemaker and shareholders, have been working on the evolution of the estate, developing biodynamic farming, planting massal selection Sangiovese, and preferring low intervention wines that reflet our altitude terroir. The 13.5 hectares of vineyards are located between 350 and 650 meters above sea level. Certified organic since 1998 and Biodynamic since 2019. They are laid out in a mosaic of fifteen parcels planted on the Estate's best terroirs. On these soils of schists and sandstone, Sangiovese and Syrah find ideal pedoclimatic conditions to express themselves in all their complexity. The management of spontaneous grassing, the practice of green manure and tillage provide fertile and vital soils. Fertilization is based on organic products and cow manure. The altitude and wide range of temperatures allow slow and balanced maturation. Fermentations take place spontaneously. The wines obtained are aged in large oak casks, concrete vats, stainless steel tanks, or in stoneware jars, to fully express their potential. The lunar cycles mark the racking and bottling dates.
