Additional Information

Our Area Our vineyards are in the Enza Valley, to be precise in the DOC-certified hills of Scandiano and Canossa. Land recovered from the Enza river over the centuries, full of limestone, clay and gravel; the area is called "Braglie" (Braje), an old Longobard word that meant areas near to rivers that were therefore suitable for the growing of grapes and forage. In the nearby hills, you can still see castles and parish churches from the year 1000, that bear witness to the history of the area, and the glory of the first Queen of Italy, Matilde of Canossa.

Our vineyards are in the Enza Valley, to be precise in the DOC-certified hills of Scandiano and Canossa. Land recovered from the Enza river over the centuries, full of limestone, clay and gravel; the area is called “Braglie” (Braje), an old Longobard word that meant areas near to rivers that were therefore suitable for the growing of grapes and foraging. Our natural patrimony in this area are our fields, the nearby hills, the woods, the Enza and the animals we find here, whereas the vineyard and its fruits are our “contract” with nature: that which we “steal” from the soil, we later give back in the form of chopped shoots and grass, and pressed and scattered grape residues. All our activity is based on this respect for nature, working delicately and carefully to ensure that we preserve and conserve it. We believe that biodynamics is the correct philosophy that expresses that care and attention.
