Additional Information

Rataraura is a red wine from barbera grapes hand-picked in Gaggero and Vicario vineyards – plantation year between 1970 and 2000 – with 40-60 q. per ha yield. It is vinified in terracotta amphorae, with spontaneous fermentation (native yeasts only) and extended (3-5 weeks) maceration. Aging is done for 20 months at least mostly in terracotta amphorae. In the local dialect of 19th century, Rataraura means "bat".
something
Rocco di Carpeneto is a radical, organic winery located on a small plateau amidst the Upper Monferrato hills, i.e. the closest to Mediterranean sea part of Piedmont. Wine production is strictly devoted to Piedmont-native grapes (cortese, barbera, dolcetto, freisa, albarossa, nebbiolo) grown in old vineyards — mostly planted between 1955 and 1986. We are proud VinNatur member.
