2021 “BLOOM” Chillable Red Wine, Sonoma County, 13.4% Alcohol Bloom is a chillable red made with a different blend of grapes each year all farmed Regeneratively by Darek Trowbridge without irrigation (dry farmed). This year it is made from Abouriou 35%, Zinfandel 30%, Pinotage 20%, and Pinot Noir 15%. The Abouriou is a Basque varietal that was planted by Darek’s great grandfather; the Zinfandel comes from the Grove Camp Vineyard near Healdsburg in the Russian River Valley; the Pinotage comes from the Gearhart Vineyard in Mendocino; and the Pinot Noir comes from the Tim Choate vineyard on the Sonoma Coast. These grapes were stomped with 100% whole clusters and allowed to soak for 5 days of maceration on both skins and stems. Wild Fermentation occurs naturally. Then 9 months in neutral barrels, sur lie the entire time - never racked, then bottled unfined/unfiltered.
