Additional Information

Vines were 18 years old at the time of this 2018 vintage. 100% Estate Grown. French for firecracker, the word Petard connotes the explosiveness of the spicy-citrus, mineral character of this wine on the palate. Oysters ! Oysters ! Oysters !

La Cruz de Comal Wines, Ltd. is located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, between Austin and San Antonio. It began as a collaboration between celebrated California natural winemaker, Tony Coturri and long time friend and wine enthusiast, Lewis Dickson. The limestone laden terrain is very similar to Provence-Languedoc-Rousillon. Black Spanish (Lenoir, Jacquez) and Blanc du Bois are grown and used to produce a number of different styles of wine, including some fortified wines. The wines are completely unprocessed. Sometimes in life the best opportunity to have everything is to do nothing. We stand by that philosophy where our wine is concerned. Nothing whatsoever is added and nothing is taken out. We insist that our wines be completely and honestly expressive and that requires allowing the wine to be what it wants to be. This is the path that, in our view, leads to uniqueness of character, the distinction of place and a wine that has the ability to teach.
