Additional Information

Alcohol: 13% Bottle size: 75cl Average age of vines: 30 years Winemaking is traditional and low intervention. Grapes are fermented on skins using indigenous yeasts. The wine is allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation. The Pinot ages for two years in 225 and 500 litre oak barrels. The majority are seasoned as they only use new oak when they need additional barrels. A fine, fresh and aromatic Pinot aroma with lovely herbal spices and a hint of toast. Silky, highly elegant and aromatic on the palate, this is a full-bodied, juicy, intense and perfectly balanced with very fine tannins and a long, persistent finish.
something
Great wines of old school –this is the guide to our winery… Our vineyards are situated along the edge of the socalled Haardtrand, in Pfalz (Palatinate), 100 km North of Strassbourg. Here, where figs, chestnuts and almonds grow, you find ideal conditions for grape varieties that need a long vegetation period such as Riesling and Pinot Noir. We make one dry Riesling, named by the soil `Buntsandstein´, and one Pinot Noir which grows on chalky soil named `Kalkstein´. In addition we produce 4 different sparlings `Method classic´ from 100% Riesling´, minimum 32 months on the lees, one of it as `Brut Nature´ (no dosage, no added sulfit). Inspired by the work with traditional ageing methods and processing techniques we manage to produce elegant wines full of finesse. Our wines unite good balance with the interplay of mineral nuances, intensity and fullness. We think that such a quality can be achieved only by using the best hand – picked grapes of biodynamic cultivation. Very often, the harvesting process needs to be repeated several times. Due to minimalistic work in the cellar and long aging processes in wooden barrels, we produce wholesome and balanced wines of great aging potential. Our wines are DEMETER certified.
