something
Florèz Wines was founded by James Jelks, a UC Davis alumni with astute knowledge of winemaking. Having done his time in many parts of the world working in wine, James finally decided to establish his own label in 2017 in Santa Cruz. Focusing on some classic styles of wine as well as some older styles that have come to popularity recently, James strives for the truest expression of terroir in his wines, and he believes natural winemaking lends itself best to showcase terroir, with nothing in the way of the expression of where the grapes come from and what varietal is being made into wine. James is known primarily for varietals such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Grenache, as well as for trying new styles of winemaking such as cofermentation and carbonic orange wines.
