something

Let the terroir express its best without chemistry in order to produce highly drinkable wines; this has always been the domaine’s motto since Domaine de Valmengaux was created in 2000 in Vérac, 40 kms from Bordeaux, near Fronsac. The philosophy remains the same after David and Valérie decided to move from Paris suburbs to Domaine de Valmengaux and make wine. The vines are now owned by 50 proud friends: 3,7ha of 30-70 year-old mainly merlot vines growing on gentle slopes with well-drained clay-limestone soil (+1,6ha to be planted soon). Organic farming, natural grass cover-cropping, disbudding, leaf thinning are performed to naturally help sublimating the vines in the wines. Natural fermentation triggered only by indigenous yeast and ageing either for 24 months in 12 and 20-hectolitre foudres (Valmengaux) and earthware jars/amphora (Valmengaux En Jarre) complete the job: the wines have a unique patina and an expressive aromatic nose of red and black fruit.
