From the Grower
"The Faugères Grande Réserve de Schiste is the purest expression of the minerality of the shale soil in Faugères. It is produced in very limited quantities and only in the best years."

something
We are a small domain of 9 hectares in South of France in the Appellation Faugères in the middle of the hills of the southern slopes of the Cévennes. We, Olivier Binet and Pierre Jacquet, share a common passion for authentic terroir wines. Driven by this vision, we embarked on the adventure and created our domain from scratch in 1999. Our vineyard is located in the middle of the wild Mediterranean nature marked by sun and wind. We have planted the region's native grape varieties: Granche, Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Our entire vineyard is on a 370 million years old shale soil, one of the oldest wine-growing soils in Europe, which gives the wine its very mineral character. From the creation in 1999, we cultivate our vineyards in an entirely artisanal and natural way according to the principles of biodynamics, we are certified Organic and Demeter since more than 10 years. We vinify each of our 17 plots separately to bring out the characteristics of their terroir and produce four cuvées: the fruity Faugères, the elegant Reserve, the very mineral Grande Réserve and the Grande Réserve de Schiste which is aged for three years in amphoras. All our wines are marked by a beautiful freshness, elegance and a strong minerality.
