It is rare to come across a rosé from Slovenia. And when we do find one as exceptional as the 'Roza' Refošk by Mitja and Tatjana Butul, we must take some time to explore it ! 🌅 A rosé wine made of 100% Refošk grapes (the Slovenian name of Refosco) hand harvested during the end of the hot September 2020. The vines are located close to the village of Manžan in Istria on the thin coastal strip of 20 km between Italian Trieste and Croatian Istria. A south-west exposure under the sunny Mediterranean blue sky (we are only 5 km from the beach) in an area well ventilated by the sea breeze. 🌱 The Refošk harvest was exceptional and the winemakers left the grapes on their vines until late to have a good maturity. The bees were also delighted and enjoyed the juicy and sweet grapes too! Once the juice was extracted from the berries, it was immediately put into spontaneous fermentation without controlled temperature. 🍷 An intense ruby color that quickly catches the eye. On the nose, there are reminiscences of blackberry, blueberry, and ripe sour cherry. The mouthful is soft and aromatic, offering a playful sensation from a balanced acidity with pomegranate and wild strawberry aromas. Some Mediterranean touches of oregano as well as Vanilla. Elegant wine with a velvety long finish. 🍴 Foodwise the ‘Roza’ is very welcomed on tables chilled as a welcome drink, vegetable dishes, prawns and BBQ fish or with light cheeses. It can also perfectly fit as a nightcap wine for a long evening on your weekends. A pure happiness declined in a ruby and velvety rosé 💫 Pink - Rose From Refosco 2020 Dry It was picked in the 2020 end of September, in the sunny southwestern position, near the village of Manly. It was an exceptional harvest for our refosco, we left it on the plant until it was graduating , the bees were happy. With spontaneous fermentation and uncontrolled temperature, without maceration. We used just graape juice, without press. Colour: Intensive ruby, Aroma: Reminiscent of blackberry, blueberry, and ripe sour cherry and beautifully , we can feel it in aftertaste. Taste: The wine is full and soft, which makes it pleasantly playful with fruity but non-aggressive acids. A beautiful and elegant wine with a medium long finish in which sour cherries , vanilla. In the mouth, velvet taste.
