something
Côme Isambert Wines is a small vintner company that started in Saumur in 2013. After 12 years in the wine sector and in the organic field, promoting organic agriculture and research, I have decided to work for myself and to produce organic wines of high quality, with about 6.000 bottles per year. I only buy organic grapes from suppliers who are producing good quality grapes on chalky and schist grounds. I plan the pickings from selected plots in vineyards and manage from the vinification to the sales. The wines are all certified organic and are divided into 6 main cuvées: ¤ 3 to 4 reds made from Cabernet franc, and Grolleau (noir and gris) + Gamay (2017), blent and not blent, ¤ 2 whites from Chenin blanc, one aged in oak barrels and one skin-macerated with grolleau gris ¤ 1 sparkling rosé (PetNat). In 2014, I started making ciders as well from different local varieties from Normandy. 3 years after, I am able to present 3 different cuvees: ¤ 1 Pear Cider, dry and tannic ¤ 1 blend of Apple and Chenin blanc ¤ 1 blend of Apple, Pear and Quince Cristal Closed 2015 is a Cabernet franc that was bought over from Clos Cristal, Saumur Champigny. My philosophy is to produce wines and cider reflecting the diversity and richness of the terroirs of the Loire Valley and to promote through various cuvees, the complementarity of cultivars as Chenin blanc, Cabernet franc, Grolleau noir, Grolleau gris, Gamay,… I also make a point of respecting the natural process of winemaking and the diversity of their natural environments.
