something
a Sunday in August is a natural winery in British Columbia, Canada. Mike Shindler and his wife Sam have been producing natural wines since 2018. We started out purchasing organic and biodynamic grapes and leasing cellar space to make our wines. In 2021, we began organically farming leased vineyards as well as buying organic grapes from across BC. In 2021, we purchased a farm on Salt Spring Island, where we planted a small vineyard that we farm regeneratively and built our winery. Our wines are made with organic (certified and non-certified) grapes. We support the natural, wild fermentation process in the cellar, which means that we do not intervene, remove (no fining or filtering), or add anything beyond grapes and trace sulphur at 30 ppm or less. Our wines are fresh, light, bright, juicy, fruity, and fun, but they also age well. They are terroir-driven; most of the wines are single-vineyard cuvées, some of which were dry-farmed, and showcase the individual terroir of the vineyard site.
