We are Bianka and Daniel Schmitt, a fifth-generation family-owned winery in Flörsheim-Dalsheim, Rheinhessen. Since taking over the estate in 2012 with 12 hectares, we have grown to 27 hectares, all Demeter-certified. Our passion for biodynamic viticulture is guided by intuition, experience, and a deep respect for nature, while always embracing creativity and self-determined paths in our winemaking.
Our portfolio combines traditional German varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Noir with Hungarian grapes like Furmint and Blaufränkisch, which adapt beautifully to our calcareous soils and changing climatic conditions. A significant part of our vineyards lies on limestone-rich sites, creating unique minerality, while cooler clay soils in Monsheim lend freshness and elegance, especially to our Rieslings.
Harvest is entirely by hand, and we personally oversee vinification, emphasizing precision and minimal intervention.
Depending on the wine, we use stainless steel, large neutral oak casks, smaller barrels, or amphorae for maturation, allowing the vineyard and terroir to speak clearly.
Our wines are structured in three tiers:
– Freiheit: estate wines
– Der Weg: village wines, expressing soil and terroir
– Single-vineyard wines: our highest quality level
Our wines are crafted for freshness, food compatibility, and authenticity.
