something

Philia Winery is an independent natural winery on Samos, Greece — founded and created by Vassilis Alexiou, Chef and Winemaker, and the sole person responsible for the Sous le Végétal wines since their inception in 2017.

The project is built around the absolute expression of the island's terroir: Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, Fokiano, and Avgoustiatis from single estate vineyards on Schist, Quartz, and Volcanic soils at altitudes between 400 and 980 metres on Mount Karvounis.

The philosophy is gastronomic: Zero-Zero wines — no additives, no sulphites added at any stage — with the texture and structure to pair with complex cuisine. Every decision in the vineyard and cellar serves that single goal.

Six labels, each a precise map of a specific site:

Oriens — free-run juice, concrete egg, 8 months on fine lees. Vertical and mineral. Omnis — press juice from three terroirs, concrete eggs, amphorae and barriques. The full expression of Samos. Vulcanus — 7-day skin contact, volcanic ravine at 650m, ungrafted centenarian vines. Amphora — 30-day skin contact, free-run juice, clay amphora full cycle, 12 months. Fokiano — rare indigenous red grape, centenarian vines, 36 months barrel aging. Augustus — Avgoustiatis, whole-cluster carbonic maceration, 50/50 concrete egg and barrique.

All harvests by hand. Spontaneous fermentation. No fining, no filtration. Zero additives.
