Domaine Derain / Sextant

Sextant was founded in 2007 while we were working at the Catherine and Dominique Derain estate in Saint-Aubin. Purchasing grapes from Sextant allowed Julien to make his first wines. The idea was to maintain the same winemaking principles as those taught by Dominique Derain. Vinification is done without additives; only a small amount of sulfite may be added before bottling. Today, Julien and Carole purchase approximately 10 hectares of grapes, mainly from the Côte Chalonnaise and Beaujolais regions. All the grapes are organic, and they have been certified since 2018.

Julien and Carole have also taken over Dominique Derain’s Winery since December 2016. In the cellar, minimal handling, spontaneous fermentation, sulphur generally avoided ! The work is done to bring the wines to great finesse and a great brilliance.
