Eating at the Fair
We’re thrilled to be hosting a collection of fine eateries and purveyors of general foodie goodness at the fair this year. They’ll help keep bellies full throughout the day. So whether you need a coffee and a croissant, a spot of lunch, an afternoon cuppa and cake or even a quick supper, we promise you will be well looked after.
Plus, if you try a wine you particularly fancy, chances are it might be for sale at the fair shop, run this year by the darling duo from Burgess & Hall in Forest Gate.
The Store XHaving originally launched at Soho House in Berlin and London Fashion Week, The Store X is now expanding with the opening of this creative space and complex of 10 studios, which house a mix of creative companies including The Store Kitchen and Bakery, Dazed Media, The Vinyl Factory, The Spaces and FACT magazine, all of whom will share the broadcast studios. Their in-house café is on the first floor.
Sager + WildeA wine bar on Hackney Rd, a restaurant on Paradise Row, a Mexican/London Mezcal, a new opening in Clerkenwell, and now… even a food stall at the fair! We’re totally thrilled to have Sager + Wilde joining us this year. They’ll be serving up tasty toasties for all you tasters.
Bunshop by The MarksmanFrom Jon Rotherham and Tom Harris, the chef duo behind Hackney’s hugely popular Marksman pub, comes ‘bunshop’. A grab-and-go offering bringing their iconic savouryBritish buns to West London. Filled, baked and then steamed, the savoury buns are deliciously soft and still warm from the oven. Seasonally changing fillings on bunshop’s menu include smoked ham hock and bacon and beef and barley with horseradish cream. Coined by The Financial Times as possibly ‘the most important thing to happen in the area since the jellying of the first eel’, and by Jay Rayner as ‘the best lunch to be had in Britain right now’ these buns have long been a signature dish of the award-winning kitchen. |
Walnut & Spiceგამარჯობა! Walnut & Spice is a small, family run, London-based, Georgian catering company and makers of fine sauces, salts, spices and churchkhela (pictured above). They cater for all sorts of events, dinners, celebrations, and we’re delighted to welcome them to the Strand this year where they’ll be offering up authentic Georgian dishes in the café upstairs. Everything is prepared from scratch using local suppliers and spices from the Caucasus.
ProvisionsProvisions is a wine and cheese shop and bar that opened on Holloway Road in 2015. We import our cheeses from farmhouses across France, Italy and Switzerland. We currently stock around 100 different raw-milk cheeses and artisan cured meats. Our wines follow a similar philosophy – most of the work is done by hand, with many of the growers following organic and biodynamic practices to tend indigenous varieties in lesser-known parts of France and Italy. We have a selection of craft beer, handmade breads and jams. We also serve wines by the glass and cheese by the plate in the evening. Since 2017, we have started wholesaling our cheeses and meats to the London restaurants, shops and wine bars.
Burgess & HallThe fair shop is back in town and we have once again partnered with the brilliant Burgess & Hall for this. So whether a pretty pet nat or a bold Bordeaux has taken your fancy, chances are you’ll be able to grab a bottle from their shop in the main tasting hall to take home with you. Or, even better, order a bunch of bottles and they’ll deliver it to you post-fair. This year, alongside the shop, Burgess & Hall will also be running a Beer Bar to help quench your thirst at the end of a long day of tasting. The bar will feature a selection of organic beers and ciders, in bottle and on tap. About Burgess & Hall Burgess & Hall Wines is an independent wine shop and bar based underneath a railway arch in Forest Gate, East London. Owned and operated by Paul Burgess and Rosamund Hall, its aim to bring together the most delicious wines available in the UK under one roof; particularly those with a focus on organic and biodynamic farming, and low-intervention in the cellar. |
