Going back for the future.
Inspired by many Georgian Kvevri-Wine producers who I have met during the 25 years of my own work in Georgia and by Josko Gravner’s meticulously straightforward work, I started to produce my first Natural Wine in 2010 in Güzelyurt, Cappadocia, Turkey under the name of Gelveri Ltd. Actually we are working with 3 known grapes, the red Kalecik Karasi, the amber Hasan Dede and the white Keten Gömlek. In addition we produce from 5 unknown grapes each up to 200 btls. per year. Only 3 years later we can harvest enough of this rare grapes for to make 500 to 600 bottles of wine. In cooperation with Anatolian Grapes Ltd. we will safe 30 more endangered Anatolian grapes for the traditional production of Pekmez, Vinegar, Vine Leafs, Wine and Raisins, everything “without adding and without taking away”.
