Cyclades, GreeceSince 2011, winemaker-apprentice Jerome Charles Binda is building an experimental vineyard in the granitic Kalathas mountains on the Greek island of Tinos, which includes both endemic and cycladic varieties, on a sandy windblown microterroir exempt from phylloxera. The domain also owns and works with centenary endemic franc-de-pied vines, and is currently running the Kaloriziko Project (Greek expression to wish a “good rooting”) to help save and maintain the heritage own-rooted Tinos vines, promoting and supporting local development and employment for the young generation through traditional winemaking. Certified organic, biodynamic-oriented, the domain is commited to use no chemicals or synthetic inputs in the vineyard and in the cellar, and since 2016 vinifies and bottles all the cuvées with zero-added sulphur.
