Additional information: The terroir – Saint-Laurent-des-Combes in the Charente, on the slopes of the Montmoreau countryside with its chalky limestone hills in the upper cretaceous strata. Its appellation is Bons Bois (Good woods).
The man – Jean-François Decroix, organic grower and winemaker who started in 1979.
The farm – Here mixed farming is the centre of the system of growing cereals, lentils, walnuts, fruit, truffles and grapes – with cognac production integrated as part of a global and self-sufficient vision.
The vines – grown without fertilizer or pesticides thanks to intermediate plantings and constant care and attention to the vitality of the soil.
From wine to cognac – the winemaking takes place using indigenous yeasts and the wine is then distilled according to the Charentais method. The resulting eau-de-vie is aged for between 8 to 15 years in French oak casks.
Blending – without the addition of sugars, this brings to the fore the flavours of the natural product; a creation from 100 percent grapes – trumpeting its local identity.
« A cognac which respects the beauty and the magic of life »
Following the successful launch of organic DECROIX COGNAC and DECROIX GIN, French organic wine enthusiast, David Mimoun has created his own brand name – VIVANT.
VIVANT offers a range of outstanding spirits, all made from carefully selected and organic ingredients. From start to finish, all additives are strictly banned from our products so that our liquors truly reflect and respect the particular properties of the soils from which they originate. (Pesticide residue analyses are available for customers to consult on our website).
All of our ingredients are either sourced from organic farmers or specifically grown for VIVANT.
VIVANT considers its approach to be a driving force in the development of organic farming both in France and further afield.
