Our winery is located in Alzey-Weinheim, which is a small village just outside of the city of Alzey in the southwest of Rheinhessen. This corner of Rheinhessen borders on the Pfalz in the southwest and on the Nahe region in the northwest. It has a higher elevation (up to 300m) and a more diverse range of different soil types then the rest of the growing area - our vineyards are planted on red sandstone soils, volcanic soils, limestone soils and of course a little bit of the typical loess soils. We currently farm 7 hectares biodynamic - certified by demeter. The most important grape variety for us is Riesling (~30% of the vineyards), but I also love Chardonnay. We have also replanted quite a bit of our vineyards in the last years in order to put more focus on Spätburgunder as a red variety. Most of our attention goes to the work in the vineyard. Cellar work is limited to a lot of cleaning and tasting everything regularly.
