Join us for the soft opening of the much anticipated Kindred, from the team behind Ruffian. We will be joined by two wonderful wineries from Italy: Lidia Carbonetti and Paolo Baretta, owners of Rocco di Carpeneto in Ovada, Piedmont and sisters Francesca and Laura Salerno from Casa di Baal in Campania. There will be pet nat and plenty of native varietals worth of your time including: Cortese, Dolcetto, Fiano and Aglianico.
Here’s the scoop on Kindred from our friends at Eater:
Kindred, at 342 East Sixth St., between First and Second avenues, will focus on food and drinks along the Adriatic Sea, including Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. Ruffian chef and partner Josh Ochoa oversees the food alongside chef de cuisine Amy Mattulina (Maialino, Charlie Bird), which will run to small plates, pasta, and some large-format dishes.
But the Ruffian team’s involvement here signifies a particular emphasis on wine. Partners Alexis Percival and Patrick Cournot are co-beverage directors, putting together a “colorful” list of wines from Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy, with a particular focus on orange wines. There will also be some cocktails, created by Charlotte Mirzoeff (Union Square Cafe, Marta) that have a “strong Italian touch.”
