New month, new wine country! Greek wine: ever tried any?
As a part of #RawWineWeek, we are excited to announce a new wine event at Plateau!
Join us for Greek wine tasting with Maria from Southern Wine Roads.
The Greeks know a thing or two about wine. There is evidence of grapes being crushed and the juice fermented in Ancient Greece from around 4,500BC, making it one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world.
We will explore natural, organic and low intervention wines from different Greek regions carefully selected by Maria.
You will learn more about indigenous grape varietals from Greece, such as Savatiano, Assyrtiko, Xinomavro etc and also Maria is bringing very rare ORANGE RETSINA for us to try.
Some of the wines are showcased at #RawWineFair in London.
Maria attended the WSET program and obtained the WSET Advanced qualification (with Merit) in 2015. Since 2012 she has been researching the Greek vineyard, the longest living vineyard in Europe, being convinced that the Greek terroir is unique (as only very few others) and feeling a great sense of connection with the people tending the vineyards and having the vision to produce beautiful yet different wines and with a narrative. She established an import company in 2014, Southern Wine Roads and brought a good number of quality producers in the UK Market. She has organized numerous tastings on Greek wine in the UK for wine societies, customers and private groups and has received great feedback both from the experts, as well as her audience.
